Why Winning a CODiE Award Fuels Company Momentum

The anticipation in the room was palpable as employees representing dozens of top companies waited to hear if they would be named a 2018 SIIA CODiE Awards winner. As the Vice President of Marketing at Highspot, I was one of them.

While sitting at our table watching the evening unfold, my mind drifted back to the events that had led to this moment. Highspot was a finalist in the two categories we entered: Best Sales Enablement Solution and Best Content Management Solution. The journey began when our Director of Sales Engineering gave a product demonstration in front of expert reviewers, including software and business technology experts, analysts, media, bloggers, bankers, and investors. This is one thing that sets the CODiE Awards apart—they are the only peer-recognized competition in the business and technology industries, so each CODiE Award win is a testament to product innovation, vision and industry impact.

With the judges providing feedback about Highspot such as, “able to integrate into a company’s workflow on multiple levels in multiple ways” our solution clearly made an impression, but would it be enough to take home a CODiE?

“And the winner of the Best Sales Enablement Solution category is…” The announcer’s voice cut through my thoughts, bringing me to the edge of my seat. “...Highspot!”

Walking across the stage to accept the award was an unforgettable moment. And something that made the evening even more memorable was returning to the stage a second time to receive the Best Content Management Solution CODiE—a clean sweep.

With two trophies tucked in my suitcase, I flew back to our Seattle office with pride and gratitude.

What did it mean to bring home not just one, but two, CODiE awards?

First, it meant gratification. These awards embodied the team’s dedication, creativity, innovation and hard work. Each Highspotter, whether they are a marketer, engineer, account executive or recruiter, brings their best every single day, and our product shows it. Being recognized for our efforts was a reward worth waiting for.

Second, it meant motivation. I could feel the collective enthusiasm when we announced the wins at our Friday company lunch. The excitement was evident in the cheers and social posts and emails that followed as the team took to the digital world to share the good news. The awards had brought everyone closer together, sparked our motivation and propelled our company forward.

Finally, it meant validation. Although we have always believed we have the most advanced solution on the market, having our belief confirmed by the panel of industry expert judges was incredible affirmation. We strive to create breakthrough products that transform the way millions of people work, and knowing we are accomplishing this mission is an award in itself.

All in all, earning recognition as the Best Sales Enablement Solution and Best Content Management Solution ignited our passion for what we do and fueled our momentum. It was a night to remember, and the ripple effect of winning the CODiEs has been felt throughout the company ever since.
