In our final stop for this year’s 2018 Deciphering #IoT series, the Software and Services division gathered in Raleigh, North Carolina for a one-day event focused on the internet of things. The local technology community sent its leading executives to connect and engage in conversation around topics unique to IoT.

SIIA Member Christopher Wiech, Partner at the Atlanta offices of BakerHostetler kicked off the day with a presentation on the importance of IP and data ownership, privacy and data security. Christopher has made his presentation available as a resource Privacy and IP Issues with IoT.pdf

Other sessions revolved around how IoT drives business transformation, security threats, understanding the life-cycle of an IoT project, monetizing the internet of things, and the future of IoT with a focus on the role Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning will play as advances are made in the space. One thing is certain - security of 'things' remains a top concern for all parties.
