SIIA Welcomes USTR Finding on French Digital Tax

Washington, D.C. (December 3, 2019) – The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), the principal association for the software, information, and digital content industries, welcomes the USTR conclusion regarding the first segment of its Section 301 investigation into France’s digital services tax.

SIIA Senior VP for Global Public Policy, Carl Schonander, issued the following statement:

SIIA commends USTR for its thoroughly documented work with respect to the French digital services tax.   The Government of France should review the USTR report on the tax and address its findings substantively.  Moreover, the OECD’s work on international taxation, in which France participates, should be the basis for changes in international tax policy, not unilateral international tax changes proposed by France.”
