SIIA Welcomes Creation and Signs on as Member of Alliance for Trade Enforcement (AFTE)

WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 14, 2020) – The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), the principal association for the software, information, and digital content industries, is pleased to join the Alliance for Trade Enforcement (AFTE).  This Alliance is a successor to the Alliance for Fair Trade with India (AFTI) and will focus, in addition to India, on South Africa, Brazil and Canada.

SIIA Senior Vice President for Global Public Policy, Carl Schonander, issued the following statement:

“SIIA considers addressing the digital trade and intellectual property enforcement issues associated with India, South Africa, Brazil and Canada to be important in their own right and for the broader trade system.
We stand ready to continue to work with partners to help resolve matters such as data localization, cross-border data flows, and enforcement of intellectual property rights.”
